Default PvP Characters and Other Things

I first started playing GW back when it was first released. But, to be honest. I never really got into it. I think that was mainly because I had no one to play with. I'm thinking of coming back because I'm kind of burnt out on WoW at the moment, and this time I have a friend that's joining me.

I was just wondering, if I plan on PvPing is it better to level a roleplaying character or just use the roleplaying character to unlock skills and such and use a PvP character for actually doing the PvP?

Also, is there a way to respec your roleplaying characters attributes and such?

1. To get all skills required for great success in PvP requires owning all three campaigns or buying the PvP skill pack from PlayNC.com

2. You can respec anytime you are in a town or outpost. There is no penalty or cost.

More info can be found here http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Player_versus_Player

Thank you for the reply, but let me rephrase my first question. Is there an advantage, in PvP, for playing through the campaigns on an RP character before making a PvP character? Also, can you get all the skills gained from PvEing in PvP using Faction?

The only advantage (other than "no cost" unlocking of skills, weapons and buffs for your Account) is by playing PvE first, you will learn how the skills work against other skills. You also gain experience in playing the different professions.

You can create a PvP character, try him out and reroll with no penalty or loss of skills. Any skills you purchase with Balthazar Faction are permanently unlocked for PvP. Any skills you unlock via PvE are permanently unlocked for PvP.

Thank you both very much.

Although I think I'll play an RP character just to get the story and learn to play my profession before making a PvP character.
